A new study published by the United Nations highlights that the demand for the sand will require very soon a better governance for raw materials.

Indeed, a new UN Environment report reveals that the demand on sand has doubled in 20 years, that is clearly not sustainable. Moreover, the extraction of aggregates from rivers has led to pollution, flooding, lowering of aquifers and increased drought.

This will reinforce the necessity to use, for the same need, more sustainable resource, such as the flax resource in the FARBioTY project.
