The first trials done by the resin manufacturers were showing a difficulty of tissue impregnation. The resins that resist to fire are more dense and viscous than the resins who don’t. For that reason, the impregnation of the resins in the tissue was harder than expected. Indeed, the infusion of clear resins through flax works really well. In order to bypass this problem, two parallel paths of work have been conducted. On the one hand, TVDC worked on different tissue structures to be proposed to resin manufacturers that would improve the resin progression inside the tissue. On the other hand, the resin manufacturers worked on new formulations or other products, reaching the same goal.
